I think the last photo of Joubert Park Part II, shows the remains of the old German 'Munchner' restaurant that my Lufthansa colleagues used to entertain travel trade friends in 1980? Having personally witnessed the result of ‘Uhuru’ in the rest of Africa during the 20 years prior to South Africa's 'independence', one would have to be naive to expect that South Africa’s fate would be anything different.
Hi, I lived in Koch St , Joubert park back in '72. It was nice area and Hillbrow was great place to go out..Moved to Winsor Heights and left SA in '75.
Our office was in Commissioner St close to the Carlton Hotel which opened in '72. Was back in Joburg last month, but did not go downtown. Stayed in Sandton !! That figures...
